It thanked the Government for the support. Both E-TR and TVS Motor have continued to lead the pack in July 2026, with Expressing registrations up 80% for the month.

India's electric two-wheeler market maintained its impressive growth trend in July 2026, as vehicle sales surged 80% compared to the previous year, reaching 1,95,446 units. The increase was attributed to the increasing demand for electric scooters and motorcycles in the urban commuting scenario and the dominance of leading manufacturers, TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto, in the market.

The registration data also indicates that electric vehicles are increasingly becoming a bigger percentage of the entire two-wheeler market in India.

The market for electric two-wheelers increased at a healthy rate

As part of the 2015-2020 target, the total number of electric two-wheelers on the road in July 2026 was 1,95,446, which was significantly lower than the same month in the previous year. The market did not see much fluctuation as the June 2026 registrations of 1,94,940 units were almost similar to those of the previous month of 1,97,240 units.

In India, the overall acceptance of electric two-wheelers by its consumers further increased as they now make up 11.1% of the total two-wheeler sales as compared to 10.6% in June.

TVS Motor continues to be a leader.

TVS Motor, which had a 52% market share, sold 53,031 units in the electric two-wheeler segment in July 2026.

The company sold over 23,581 units during the same period last year, more than double that of this month. This led to a rise in the market share of TVS to 27.1%, and it became the top-selling electric two-wheeler maker in the country.

Now it is Bajaj Auto's turn to be in the 2nd place

Bajaj Auto continued its impressive performance, achieving 43,817 registrations in July 2026.

The company's growth rate was very impressive at 113% year-on-year, and it held the 22.4% market share. The company remains strong in the Electric Vehicle segment as the demand for the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter remains high.

Ather Energy is in third place

Ather Energy continued to be the third biggest electric two-wheeler maker in July with 29,301 registrations.

Sales grew by 64% compared to the same quarter last year. This was a drop from June but was still 15.0% of the market.

Hero MotoCorp diversifies its product line

Hero MotoCorp saw further growth in its electric vehicle segment with 21,506 registrations in July 2026.

The company recorded almost double July 2025 sales (10,835 units) to grab 11.0% market share.

Ola Electric's sales are down

The one big company to see a decline in registrations for July was Ola Electric with a 10% fall.

The number of units registered dipped 27% year-on-year, to 13,520 units, 17% less than in June 2026. As a result, Ola's market share decreased considerably to 6.9% compared to 17.0% last year.

Other EV Manufacturers: Keep on Rising

The other electric two-wheel manufacturers also had a good month.

River Mobility and Greaves Electric had 5,791 and 9,768 registrations, respectively. In July 2026, BGauss Auto also sold 5,353 cars.BGauss Auto has also sold 5,353 cars as of July 2026.

The overall EV market in India continues to grow

India's electric two-wheeler industry is growing at a fast pace, as evident from the latest registration numbers. Existing brands such as TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto have consolidated their position in the market by introducing new models, thereby building customer confidence.

The first five manufacturers accounted for more than 82% of the overall market for electric two-wheelers in July – a very concentrated market.

In the first four months of FY26-27 (FY27), electric two-wheelers (e-2W) achieved 71% YOY growth with 7,20,730 units registered during the period.

Conclusion

As the demand for electric two-wheelers rises among consumers, the spread of charging stations, and the diversification of EV bike models, the Indian electric two-wheeler market maintained its positive trajectory in July 2026. Ola Electric had a difficult month with lower registrations, TVS Motor maintained its lead, while Bajaj Auto had an impressive month.

But the Indian two-wheeler market is expected to remain on an upward curve ahead for a few more months, with other manufacturers following in the footsteps of Hero and TVS to launch their own EVs, and consumers starting to buy them.
