Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG Launched in India

Mahindra & Mahindra has launched the new Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG in India at a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Announced on October 15, 2026, the new model marks the company's entry into the mainstream CNG passenger vehicle segment. The SUV combines a turbocharged petrol-CNG engine, modern technology, practical cabin space and a comprehensive range of safety features.

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG aims to offer the performance and practicality of an SUV alongside the lower running costs associated with CNG. It features a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine that produces 82 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque in both CNG and petrol modes. The company also claims a certified fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg.

The new CNG SUV will be available in four variants, with prices reaching ₹12.27 lakh for the top-spec version. Test drives begin on October 15, while bookings and deliveries are scheduled to start on October 20, 2026.

Mahindra XUV 3XO is a new addition to the XUV 3 line of vehicles in India

The XUV 3XO ZNG has been brought in four versions, namely the MX Edge, REVX Edge (O), AX5 and REVX A. The entry-level variant is aimed at making CNG-powered SUVs more affordable, while the more upscale variants provide additional comfort, technology and styling.

As per variant, the ex-showroom prices are as follows:

  • The price of the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG Edge is ₹9.99 lakh.

  • The price of Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG REVX Edge (O) is Rs10.79 lakh.

  • Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG AX5: ₹11.19 lakh

  • Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG REVX A: ₹12.27 lakh

There's the entry-level MX Edge, and the top of the range REVX A. The prices are ex-showroom; the final on-road price will vary as per location, insurance and registration.

Engine, Power and Performance

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG's most notable feature is undoubtedly its turbocharged engine. Unlike standard CNG cars that might have lesser performance in gas mode, Mahindra states the XUV 3XO ZNG is as powerful and torquey in gas mode as in regular mode.

The SUV is powered by a 1.2-litre mStallion TCMPFi turbocharged engine which generates 82 kW of power and 200 Nm of torque. The company claims the calibration of the turbocharger and the mapping of the engine control unit have been optimised to ensure the same performance on CNG or petrol fuel.

Mahindra states that the XUV 3XO ZNG has the highest torque among CNG passenger cars in India; 200 Nm is offered from 1,500 to 3,500 rpm.

As far as acceleration is concerned, the SUV can go from 0 to 60 km/h in 4.9 seconds and from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds in CNG mode, as per the company. With these numbers, it is clearly a performance-based choice in the CNG vehicle market.

Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG Technology and Mahindra XUV 3XO Mileage

One of the key factors when selecting a CNG vehicle to buy is fuel efficiency. The Mahindra XUV 3XO CNG offers a manufacturer's claimed certified efficiency rating of 24.7 km/kg.

The SUV is CNG as well as petrol-driven, which offers flexibility to the drivers based on fuel availability and driving needs. As the CNG supply depletes, the system automatically flips to petrol mode, ensuring uninterrupted travel.

Mahindra has also fitted the car with a first-of-its-kind 10 bar CNG injection pressure system that is designed to ensure that the vehicle delivers responsive performance and efficient fuel supply.

Other conveniences include average and instant fuel economy data, so that the driver can track fuel usage. An NGV fast-filling valve has also been added to facilitate easy and quick CNG refuelling.

The company has fitted gas-leak detection technology which can detect a leak and automatically switch to petrol mode.

Space efficiency and usability

Due to the large space taken up by the gas cylinders, there are sometimes compromises with luggage room on CNG vehicles. To tackle this challenge, Mahindra has adopted underfloor twin-cylinder packaging in the XUV 3XO ZNG.

The CNG cylinders are fitted underneath the luggage area to maintain the flat loading floor and 270-litre boot space. The spare wheel is kept under the body to maintain the utility of the luggage compartment.

This design will make the vehicle more family-friendly, with space for shopping bags, day-to-day and weekend essentials.

The SUV's design and interior are also unchanged from the existing XUV 3XO, providing a balance of usability and CNG benefits.

Features and Interior Technology

Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG comes with a number of comfort and technology features, which differ depending on the variants. The entry-level MX Edge will have a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen, cruise control, rear AC vents and a 60:40 split back seat.

Additional standard equipment includes Android Auto connectivity, rear-view camera, audio controls on the steering wheel, power windows on the front and rear, remote keyless entry and second-row headrests that adjust.

The higher variants feature additional accessories like a Skyroof, black leatherette seats and a dual colour roof and foldable ORVMs. The REVX A and AX5 variants have a more sophisticated infotainment and comfort fit.

The SUV has twin 26.03 cm screens (digital instrument cluster) and 6 speakers, a single-pane sunroof, LED projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights and Infinity LED tail lamps depending on the variant.

The higher variants have a tyre pressure monitoring system, dual-zone climate control, wireless support for Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, a 65W USB-C fast-charge port and built-in Alexa.

The top-spec REVX A brings in enhancements like Dolby Atmos audio, R16 painted black alloy wheels and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob.

Safety Features

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is also designed to be a safe vehicle. Another important consideration of the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is safety. All variants come with six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and ISOFIX child-seat mounts as standard.

The SUV also comes with seat-belt reminders for all occupants, 3-point belts for all passengers, front height-adjustable belts and reverse parking sensors.

Mahindra claims the XUV 3XO ZNG has been designed for a five-star rating. The already available XUV 3XO petrol model has been rated as 5-star for both adult and child occupancy safety by Bharat NCAP. But this does not necessarily mean that the new CNG will get a separate rating.

An integrated gas-leak detection system also adds to safety with the ability to switch the system from gas to petrol if a leak is detected.

Bookings, test drives and delivery dates are accurate as of the time of booking.

Here is the timeline of the XUV 3XO ZNG that Mahindra has announced:

  • Launch date: October 15, 2026

  • Test drives: from October 15, 2026.

  • Bookings: Opening October 20, 2026

  • Deliveries: Starting October 20, 2026

The SUV will be available for booking from authorised Mahindra dealerships and the company's official website - auto.mahindra.com.

Conclusion

The Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG brings turbocharged performance, CNG efficiency and modern SUV features together in a new package. With a starting price of ₹9.99 lakh, claimed fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg, 200 Nm of torque and 270 litres of usable boot space, it aims to address several common concerns associated with CNG-powered vehicles.

Its six airbags, ESC, ISOFIX mounts and underfloor twin-cylinder packaging further strengthen its appeal for family buyers. The higher variants offer additional technology and comfort features, including a digital instrument cluster, sunroof, dual-zone climate control and premium audio.

For buyers seeking an SUV that combines lower running costs with strong claimed performance and everyday practicality, the Mahindra XUV 3XO ZNG is an interesting new option in India's CNG vehicle market.
