Nissan Tekton SUV Teased Ahead of Launch; Hybrid Powertrain, ADAS Features Expected
Nissan India is preparing to add to its SUV lineup with the all-new Nissan Tekton, a compact SUV that is expected to hit the Indian market later this year. The new model will be Nissan's second big release since the Gravite sub-four-metre MPV launch and will likely give birth to a three-row version in the near future.
The teaser image just released by Nissan shows that the car will sport a strong and contemporary design vocabulary. The front fascia should see an inverted L-shaped LED DRL, a sleek LED light bar, full-width red fascia trim, LED head lamps, chunky skid plates, fog lamps, and silver roof rails to the front of the SUV for a rugged but premium feel.
The Tekton will probably come with stylish dual-tone alloy wheels on the sides and connected LED taillights on the back to enhance its modern, sleek appeal.
Nissan is expected to continue adding to the Tekton's modern amenities inside, including a plethora of new technologies. These can feature a large touch-screen infotainment display, a new 3-spoke steering wheel, a full digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, improved front seat comfort and convenience.
Widely available powertrain options could be one of the largest selling points of the new SUV. The Nissan Tekton will come in three engine sizes: 1.0-litre turbo-petrol, 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and 1.8-litre turbo-petrol hybrid. Transmission options include a six-speed manual gearbox, a torque converter automatic and a dual-clutch transmission (DCT).
The Nissan Tekton will compete in a very competitive compact SUV segment with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, MG Astor and of course the Maruti Victoris to come.
The Nissan Tekton with its variety of engine choices, luxury options and a hybrid variant, has the potential for being a big player in India's burgeoning midsize SUV market.
