Xiaomi has also entered the automotive industry with its new automotive brand, SkyNomad, in China, which offers extended-range SUVs. The new range will be named the seven-seater SkyNomad N90 Max and the five-seater SkyNomad N70 Max AWD. The N90 Max is priced as the larger flagship, while the two SUVs feature electric driving alongside an extended-range powertrain for better flexibility in everyday and long-distance driving.
Along with their extended-range technology, the new SUVs focus on cabin space, comfort, connectivity and intelligent driving features. Xiaomi is positioning the SkyNomad range as more than just family SUVs, with flexible seating and technology that's designed to make the cabin a versatile living space.
The prices of Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max and N70 Max are currently unknown
The Xiaomi SkyNomad N70 Max is priced at RMB 239,900 or about ₹33.8 lakh using direct currency conversion. The larger N90 Max is priced at RMB 269,900, or about ₹38 lakh.
The figures given are in the form of direct currency conversion and are not indicative of the expected prices in India. If Xiaomi ever enters the Indian market with these SUVs, import duties, taxes, homologation costs and many other factors can be a significant influence on the final price tag.
Interestingly, Xiaomi has priced both lower than their earlier pre-sale price. The N70 Max was initially priced at RMB 259,900, and the N90 Max at RMB 299,900. The end result is that the final prices are RMB 20,000 lower for the N70 Max and RMB 30,000 lower for the N90 Max.
The aerodynamic design and large dimensions are crucial
According to Xiaomi, the SkyNomad series has adopted a “Form Follows Function” design principle. The size of the SUVs is indicative of their emphasis on size and utility.
The N90 Max measures 5,285 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width and 1,825 mm in height, with a 3,080 mm wheelbase. N70's smaller size is 4,960 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, and its wheelbase is 2,950 mm.
The N90 Max has over 140 aerodynamic changes, such as an automatic grille. The drag coefficient of 0.255 is remarkable for a large SUV that's over 5.2 metres long, Xiaomi says.
The exterior comes in Mountain Green, Valley Blue and Volcanic Grey, and the cabin is available in Cream Beige or Mocha Brown. There are also 3 different 21-inch wheel designs to choose from.
One of the main features is the flexible Cabin
One of the N90 Max's most unique features is its cabin. The interior of the Xiaomi is designed to be flexible, with the ability to reconfigure the seating layout based on the user's needs.
The SUV has long seat rails that can be used to optimise the cabin for passengers or cargo. Front seats can swivel back to rear seats; third row seats slide back. This enables passengers to form an "up front" seating position and makes the cabin more like a lounge.
With cargo space of up to 1,831 litres, you can easily carry all your family's belongings and gear, whether for everyday use or on long journeys.
Four Zero-Gravity Seats and Premium Comfort
Xiaomi have prioritised the comfort of its passengers. The N90 Max gets four zero-gravity seats, while the front seats are equipped with 16-point massage, heating and ventilation functions.
Over 95 per cent of the high-touch surfaces in the cabin are soft-wrapped. The SUV is also equipped with smart electric doors with an anti-collision system of 360 degrees and an electric aluminium-alloy side step.
These characteristics are indicative of Xiaomi's efforts to make the SkyNomad a high-quality family SUV with a focus on comfort and usability rather than just performance.
Technology-Focused Cabin
Another highlight of the SkyNomad collection is technology. The SUVs feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered cockpit platform, dual 5G connectivity and Wi-Fi 7.
Other technology features include a head-up display, a 25-speaker audio system and a 6.9-inch rear control screen. The Hyper XiaoAi voice assistant is also built into the car.
The cabin receives 6 magnetic mounting points which can be used with compatible accessories. This method follows Xiaomi's consumer electronics roots, where it tries to develop a technologically advanced and connected car interior experience.
Up to 338 km APR- Up to 505 km Electric-Only Range
The SkyNomad range is powered by Xiaomi's Kunlun Platform and features the company's extended-range electric vehicle technology. The SUVs come in two variants with different battery sizes, from 52kWh to 76kWh.
The N70 Max has a claimed 505 km electric-only range, and the N90 Max has up to 464 km of electric-only range.
The top combined range of the N90 Max is 1,705 km per full charge and battery. The N70 Max, on the other hand, promises up to 1,461 km of range.
The extended range configuration enables the SUVs to run on electric energy for normal driving (day-to-day) operation and also on electric energy for extended trips. This might render the technology especially ideal for big family SUVs for city and highway use.
Dual-Motor all-wheel drive and up to 416Bhp
The N90 Max features a 310kW (about 416 bhp) all-wheel drive system with twin motors.
Xiaomi says that the large SUV can reach 0-100 km/h in 5.9 seconds. The N90 Max is large and has 7 seats, but this is a good performance figure.
The N70 Max also features a dual-motor AWD system. But Xiaomi's emphasis on the SkyNomad series seems to have gone beyond performance, as comfort, usability, technology and efficiency have come into play.
LiDAR-Based Driver Assistance
Advanced driver-assistance (ADA) technology is also a part of the SkyNomad SUVs. It is equipped withfront-t and rear-facing LiDAR sensors, radar and cameras.
The hardware for the intelligent driving solution is based on Nvidia's Drive Thor platform with up to 700 TOPS. It is compatible with Xiaomi's Hyper Autonomous Driving system.
The SUVs also feature Xiaomi's Kunlun safety architecture with a combination of active and passive safety features and high-strength vehicle structure.
Will Xiaomi SkyNomad Launch in India?
There is still no verified plan for India for the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max or the N70 Max.
The N90 Max price in China works out to roughly ₹38 lakh in a simple currency conversion. That figure should not be treated as what buyers would pay in India. If Xiaomi ships these SUVs here, higher import duties, taxes, and legal approval work can push the final cost up a lot.
Xiaomi has shown that it wants a bigger role in vehicles already. The SU7 and the YU7 are clear examples.
With the SkyNomad lineup, the company is leaning into the idea of an electric SUV that can go farther, while also aiming for a cabin that feels roomy and easy to use. It also puts a focus on modern tech inside.
If the claimed range is close to reality, and if the drive is smooth on electric power, the cars could appeal to people who want a non-diesel, non-petrol option. They also promise good features like smart links, adaptable seats, and a more comfort-first setup.
For now, though, the Xiaomi SkyNomad N90 Max and N70 Max stay tied to China. There is no confirmed India release date yet.
